About Me

My photo
Crafts have always been a big part of my life. They have been my obsession yet kept me sane. My latest obsession is crochet. Wool and the finished products have taken over the house. A blog seems like the next step in my woolie journey wherever that takes me. Feel free to pop in and see what I am up to.

A little bit of sunshine.

Today started out grey and wet again, but in the middle of the day I got home for an hour and the sun came out. So I took advantage and took a few photos.

The birds in our garden (which aside from a few friendly house spiders, are the only animals around the house since our 16 year old cat passed away last May) also took advantage of the brief bit of sun to take a bath.

Strange thing was my memory of the projects proved to be a little faulty!

And these are quite recent projects too, all started in the last 4 - 5 weeks.

In the royal blue scarf I was using 4 strands of wool not 3 and there was a fourth project I had totally forgotten about!

Originally started as a childs dress in a cream 50/50 cotton/acrylic 4ply but will probably end up as a scarf/shawl if I ever finish it.  It's just rows of double crochet (sc crochet) and I get bored easily so I can feel a ripping session coming on!

The purple of the shrug was more wine than I had remembered and taking an accurate picture of its blueberry colour was a little difficult.

My camera is a simple Fuji finepix digital, and takes lovely clear picks but does have difficulty with some colours especially red.

My Muse scarf is about half way there but I suspect it's not going to be long enough.

I'm using one of my favourite stitches - a variation on the V stitch.  It's 1dc, 1 ch, 1 tr (English Crochet stitchs).  and the return row works into the top of the tr stitch.  It creates a lovely even pattern and is a little different to simple rows of the one type of stitch.

Time to get on with a bit of work now me thinks!
